ASE does not publish a fixed passing percentage — scores are scaled. Around 65–70% correct is the commonly cited range; aim above 80% in practice so you walk in with margin. The certificate is issued once ASE verifies your required work experience.

How many questions are on the ASE A7 test?
The A7 test has 50 scored questions plus about 10 unscored research questions, with a 75-minute time limit.
Is EPA Section 609 the same as ASE A7?
No — Section 609 is the separate EPA credential required to buy refrigerant and service mobile A/C systems. A7 is the ASE competency certification; many technicians hold both.
What should I drill hardest for A7?
Pressure-gauge scenarios. Being able to read “both low”, “high high-side”, or “low side in vacuum” straight to a cause answers a large share of the test.
